50mm - 65mm Heavy Duty Geotextile Membrane Filter Sock Wrap

This permeable black heavy duty geotextile filter sock is suitable to be pulled over like a sleeve for pipe tube diameters 50mm – 65mm and available in a 150 metre roll length. If you require a shorter sleeve the geotextile fabric is easy to cut to your desired length. Designed to be more robust with a good chemical resistance, thicker material and higher puncture resistance compared to standard white geotextile filter socks. Suitable for various types of perforated pipe drainage including PVC, straight wall and corrugated HDPE, steel and aluminium.

Made from 100% polyester, this seamless geotextile membrane is permeable so it will allow water to filter through the geotextile sock into the perforated pipe ensuring the continue flow of water. Manufactured in a special knit design, this geotextile sleeve wrap prevents silt, soil and sandy particles from entering perforated pipe preventing any unnecessary clogs and maintenance. Any particles that are small enough to make it through the filter sock will be transported with the water flow, eventually discharged from the drainage pipe. This geotextile can also help support and maintain the surrounding soil structure by acting as a soil stabiliser.

Heavy duty geotextile membranes used to only be available in large sheets which meant that installing geotextile around your pipe was time consuming and difficult. Originally, you would measure around the pipe and then try to keep your wrap securely in place, which would require more than one person to assist. With these heavy duty geotextile filter sleeves, they are designed to save time with easy installation by one person, eliminate any measuring mistakes and potential wastage of large heavy duty geotextile sheets. These geotextile filter wraps are a must have for any project that requires the protection of an underground drainage system for all soil types.

Impermeable geotextile membranes do not allow water to pass through, however permeable geotextiles have opposite qualities. Permeable geotextile membranes are made from porous fabrics allowing water to pass through.  Geotextiles are manufactured from various materials ranging in thicknesses and styles including woven, non-woven and knitted. They all have their unique purposes for different job applications.

The fabric is manufactured by Carriff and specifically designed for drainage filtration using state of the art circular-knitting machines. Tested under various procedures including ISO 12956-2010 and ASTM D4491-99a, this assures the installer they are using a well tested heavy duty product that will perform when handled and installed correctly. This product has generally good chemical resistance however contact with strong acids and oxidizers should be avoided. Unprotected outdoor exposure (sunlight) for periods exceeding 45 days is not recommended.
