Domestic sewage treatment plants are sized based upon the number of bedrooms in a property. 6 Person (6PE) sewage treatment plants are suitable for a house with up to and including 4 bedrooms, this is by far the most popular size for single dwellings. The new Clearwater BioAir CW2 sewage treatment plant uses aerated technology to produce a high-level water quality discharge.

Choosing the right treatment plant is important, as in the case of a property alteration or extension, Building Control will insist upon the installation of a plant which is suitable for handling the increased flows and loads of the new development.

Gravity is the standard no-cost option, however where the inlet to the watercourse or soakaway is higher than the outlet of the treatment plant you will require the optional Integral Pumped System (IPS) as this will pump the wastewater uphill and into your discharge point. Depending upon site conditions the IPS system will pump from 1.0m head up to 200m or a maximum of 6.0m head with a distance of 15m -
