Fernco Flexseal Rubber Flexible Drainage Adaptor Coupling / Reducer

Formerly known as Flex Seal, Fernco leads the drainage marketplace in providing solutions for those circumstances that can’t be overcome with traditional couplings. The Flexible Adaptor Couplings are designed to easily and cost-effectively join two pipes of differing outer diameters and materials without the need of additional bushes. These adaptors are ideal when there is a need to connect pipes in low/non- pressure applications with varying differences in diameter. For example, a run of 150mm clay pipe can be dropped to a more affordable 110mm pipe using the AC1922. 

The coupling is an EPDM-moulded sleeve with two variable diameters at each end, creating a stepped reduction. Each end of the coupling is wrapped with a stainless-steel clamping band that can be tightened to requirement with a torque wrench or hexagonal nut driver.

To install the adaptors please follow the below guide:

1. Mark both pipes from the end to be connected, half the width of the coupling, less the required joint gap, which is usually 10mm.
2. Slide the coupling fully onto the smallest pipe.
3. Align the pipes and slide the coupling onto the larger pipe, ensuring the coupling face and marked line are flush. Tighten this clamp band.
4. Position the smaller pipe, ensuring the coupling face and marked line are flush. Tighten this clamp band.
5. Tighten the clamp bands to the recommended torque. Tamp the bedding under the pipe and re-tighten prior to backfilling.

Made to adhere to requirements of BS EN 681-1:1996, BS EN 295-4:2013 and BS EN 10088-2:1995 certified by the British Standards Institute (BSI) and made by Fernco. This provides the installer with a reliable product designed to perform in low pressure applications. Please be aware that these couplings are not UV protected and as such, should not be exposed to direct sunlight for longer than 12 months.
